Budapest Pride 2025

Budapest Pride, established in 1997, is Hungary’s largest annual LGBTQ+ event. The festival spans several weeks, featuring a variety of cultural and social activities, with the Pride Parade as its highlight. The parade traditionally proceeds along Andrássy Avenue, one of Budapest’s most prominent boulevards.

Over the years, Budapest Pride has grown in both size and significance, becoming a central platform for advocating LGBTQ+ rights in Hungary. Despite facing challenges, including opposition from far-right groups and restrictive government policies, the event has persisted, symbolizing resilience and the ongoing struggle for equality. In recent years, the festival has expanded to include over 100 events, making it the largest civic festival in the country.

In 2025, the 29th Budapest Pride Community Festival is scheduled from June 7 to June 23, with the Pride Parade set for June 22. The festival’s theme, “Claim back your future!”, addresses systemic societal issues such as racism, the housing crisis, ecological challenges, and discrimination, emphasizing the importance of community response and grassroots initiatives.
