March 31: International Trans Day of Visibility

Every year on March 31st, we celebrate International Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV). This day acknowledges the lives, experiences, and contributions of trans and non-binary people, while also reminding us that discrimination and violence have not disappeared.

What makes this day special

TDOV creates space not only for advocacy but also for visibility, joy, and authenticity. It serves as a reminder that trans people should not only be visible in public discourse when they are targeted by attacks or political conflicts.

Why visibility alone is not enough

Visibility is valuable when it is accompanied by respect, safety, and meaningful equality. Being visible does not automatically mean being protected from exclusion, stigma, or misrepresentation.

What we take away from March 31st

The day serves as an opportunity to listen to trans voices, correct misinformation, and remember that visibility is not a "trend," but a matter of human dignity.
