Gregory Berlanti, born on May 24, 1972, is an American screenwriter, producer, and director. He is recognized for his work on the television series Dawson’s Creek, Brothers & Sisters, Everwood, Political Animals, Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and You. He has also contributed extensively to film and TV productions based on DC Comics, including The CW’s Arrowverse, Titans, and Doom Patrol. In 2000, he founded Berlanti Productions.
During the 2017–2018 television season, Berlanti matched a record set by Jerry Bruckheimer years earlier, producing 10 different live-action scripted series across various networks and streaming platforms. He then surpassed this milestone in the 2018–19 season by increasing his total to 14 shows, around the time he signed a landmark producer deal with Warner Bros. By the 2019–20 season, he reached 18 running series, even factoring in one cancellation and two new premieres. Berlanti also directed the 2018 film Love, Simon, a gay romantic comedy-drama that achieved notable worldwide box office success.
In 2020, he was named to Time’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
