Taylor Zakhar Perez is gearing up for the much-anticipated sequel to Red, White & Royal Blue, but he admits he knows little about it—and it’s all in good humor.
In 2023, Matthew López’s adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s beloved novel captivated audiences on Prime Video, quickly becoming one of the platform’s most-watched films. This heartwarming story resonated with many, becoming a viral sensation.
Perez portrays Alex Claremont-Diaz, the bisexual son of Ellen Claremont, the first female president of the United States, played by Uma Thurman. He shares the screen with Nicholas Galitzine, who plays Prince Henry.
As excitement builds for the sequel, Perez has humorously opted to keep himself in the dark about the film’s details. He explained in an interview with Elle Magazine, “I purposefully said, ‘Please do not share with me anything until we are ready to prep it, because I want plausible deniability.’”
He added, “I have not read a script, but I hear it’s very good.” Reflecting on his role, he stated, “This project was really special.”
It’s evident that the film has made a profound impact. Perez shared, “People in their 60s and 70s tell me… they wish they had this kind of movie when they were younger. So this isn’t a project I take for granted.”
Fans can look forward to seeing original cast members return for the sequel. Sarah Shahi confirmed her return as Deputy Chief of Staff, Zarah Bankston, stating, “Yes, I actually am returning for the sequel. Zahra is back.”
Producer Greg Berlanti shared that the script is nearing completion and emphasized, “What’s so great is that it feels like the natural next step in the journey of these characters.”
