WorldPride Amsterdam 2026: dates and what not to miss
WorldPride stretches across two weeks, so you don’t need to be there every single day. Choose based on what you want to experience:
- Saturday, July 25, Pride Walk: the march that opens the event. If you’re interested in Pride as protest and community, this is your day.
- Saturday, August 1, Canal Parade: the most famous Pride spectacle in Amsterdam, with boats passing through the city’s canals. It’s also the busiest day.
- The rest of the days until August 8: events, parties, discussions, and cultural programming all over the city.
You’ll find the detailed schedule, with locations and times, on the official WorldPride Amsterdam site. Check it again a few days before you leave, because changes happen in events this big.
If you only have a few days
A practical plan for WorldPride Amsterdam 2026 is to arrive on Thursday, July 30, have Friday for wandering and resting, experience the Canal Parade on Saturday, August 1, and head back on Monday, August 3. If you’re more interested in the march, choose the first weekend, with the Pride Walk on July 25, and experience WorldPride from day one.
From Thessaloniki to Amsterdam: flights
From "Macedonia" airport, depending on the period, you’ll find either direct flights or a connection through another European airport or via Athens. Summer is high season, and the days around the Canal Parade are among the most in demand.
- Book early: the closer the event gets, the fewer options you’ll have. For the next big Pride events, start looking months ahead.
- Set alerts: flight comparison apps will notify you when prices change.
- Look at the in-between days too: if you don’t need to be there exactly on parade Saturday, a day earlier or later can make a difference.
- Travel light: with a cabin bag, you move faster and don’t have to wait at baggage claim.
From Schiphol airport, the train gets you to Amsterdam Central Station in just a few minutes. It’s usually the simplest way to get into the city.
Accommodation: why it fills up early
Accommodation is the hardest part of any WorldPride. Amsterdam is a dense city, with a limited number of rooms, and during Pride demand skyrockets. If you’re reading this guide and haven’t booked yet, don’t panic, but move now.
- Look outside the center too: nearby cities like Haarlem or Utrecht are connected by train and may have more availability.
- Share with your group: an apartment for four people often works out more reasonably than two rooms.
- Choose free cancellation: it gives you room to change plans if you find something better.
- Check the map: think about how you’ll get back at night, because after a party the distance always feels longer.
How to enjoy WorldPride without burning out
Two weeks of celebration is a marathon. At the Canal Parade, go early to find a spot along the canals and arrange a meeting point with your friends, because in the crowd your phone won’t always get signal. Bring water, sunscreen, a hat, and a power bank.
Amsterdam is a cycling city. If you’re not used to it, watch out for bike lanes when walking and don’t get on a bike after drinking. And as with every Pride: consent, respect, and take care of your people. For more tips, read what to know about your first Pride.
Paperwork and practical things before you leave
- Travel documents: as an EU citizen, you can travel to the Netherlands with a valid ID card or passport. Check what your airline accepts.
- Health: bring your European Health Insurance Card and any medication you need, in your carry-on.
- Mobile phone: with EU roaming, you can normally use your plan as usual, but check your provider’s terms.
- Payments: many places in the Netherlands prefer card, so make sure you have a card that works abroad.
And when you return to Thessaloniki with memories of WorldPride Amsterdam 2026, the Enola dance floor is waiting for you every night from 23:30, at Valaoritou 19. If Amsterdam has whetted your appetite for more trips, see which Pride in 2027 is for you.
